Spare time work due May 23rd.
Geometry is a tough class in a tough 10th grade year, so be
organized. We will cover chapters 1-10 depending on time constraints. My school
email address is kristy.fill@neomin.org and your parents are welcome to email
me at any time to check on your progress or to convey any messages.

Binder
Have a tab divider for each of the
following:
·

·
Other(daily

You may punch holes and keep your tests and quizzes in your
binder or you may keep them in your pocket folder. May be checked each Friday.
Group work
You will have 4 different groups and seating arrangements
this semester. You will get to pick the first group. After that, I will pick
the groups. In each group, everyone does the work on their own paper. Then I
will either collect one paper per group or I will ask somebody from that group
to present at the board (in both cases my choice).
Homework
·
Be
prepared for homework every day. This class is not as difficult if you
PRACTICE.
·
I do
not usually grade homework unless I warn you, but I do check it fairly
regularly.
·
You
can check the odd answers in the back of your text and then correct the even
answers when we go over them the next day. Circle the problems that you have
trouble with and PLEASE ask, if you still have questions the next day.
·
Homework
is to be done before class, not after you get to class.
·
Don't
leave blanks---if
you can't do the problem, at least write it down and/or draw a diagram. You
will not get full credit if you leave blanks.
·
Homework
can be made up at any point during the 9 weeks for half credit. But
remember---half credit is only 50%!
·
If
you put a homework problem on the board, you receive a bonus point.
Assignments will be posted daily. YOU are responsible for
making up any missed work and getting notes that were given. It is to your
advantage to make friends. Also keep in mind that if you are out of school for
any school related function, you are still responsible for making up work ON
TIME.
Class Rules
1. No food, gum or drink.
2. Please be on time. Be in your seat when
the bell rings and eager to start work.
3. Be prepared ( book, notebook, pencil,
compass, protractor, etc.).
4. Be respectful of other students and their
property.
5. If everyone is speaking, then no one is
listening. Everyone will have his/her chance to be heard. Raise hands, please.
6. Please show common courtesy to your
fellow classmates and teachers. Please and thank-you go a long way in showing
respect as well as receiving it.
7. You will receive one warning if you violate any of the above rules. That is to let
you know you are on the verge of a detention.
8. Please limit class disruptions, for example:
·
leave
class to use restroom
·
leave
class to go to nurse
·
tardy
·
sent to the hall (for talking, sleeping, misbehavior etc.)
·
missing class materials
In Class Assignments
This is work done in the classroom which you may do
independently or ask for help from another student or me.
Make-up work
You are expected to take tests and quizzes on the day you
return, provided you have only missed one day. For additional days absent, you
will have the same number of days that you are absent to make up the work
and/or take the test.
Projects
There will be 2 projects for the semester. One is a
PowerPoint presentation which will be done during class time only. Another is a
bulletin board project which will be done on your own time. At several times
during the semester you will also have an opportunity for extra credit.
Spare
time or at home work
This is work that is to be done whenever you have leftover
time in class or at home if you have no spare time in school. If you want to
get an A in this course, you must do all of it with a 90% average plus an A
average in all other items(tests, hw etc.). In order to receive a B, you must
do 90% with an average of 80%, a C, you must do 80% with an average of
70%. If you choose not to do any, the
best you can hope for is a D. This work
will be available in a folder in my room.
